Eli Cordell

Eli Cordell joined Hanger, Steinberg, Shapiro, and Ash as a second-year summer law clerk in May 2023. Ms. Cordell earned her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law in May 2024.

While in law school, Ms. Cordell was an associate editor of Volume 51 of the Pepperdine Law Review. Additionally, she was a board member of the Geoffrey H. Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law.

In her third year of law school, Ms. Cordell was selected for Pepperdine’s start-up clinic. As a participant in this clinic, Ms. Cordell prepared all formation documents for a start-up and assisted the start-up through the incorporation process, from filing the articles of incorporation to drafting the bylaws and preparing stock purchase agreements.

In her second year, Ms. Cordell studied abroad at Pepperdine Law’s London campus, where she participated in two externships. The first was at a law firm in the corporate and securities group, which included tasks such as drafting offer contracts for private equity clients. The second was in-house at a production studio, which included drafted licensing agreements and researched the Copyright Act and privacy law as it pertained to material broadcasted on streaming networks.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Cordell was the Director of a contemporary art gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was born and raised. She remains passionate about supporting artists, and in her spare time enjoys visiting the numerous art galleries and museums that Los Angeles has to offer.
